Ready to write, San Jose?

Begone writer’s block... It’s finally November, which means it’s National Novel Writing Month. 🖊️

Since 1999, thousands of people worldwide have taken on the Internet-famous NaNoWriMo challenge to write a 50,000-word novel within 30 days. Over 427,000 writers participated in the community-driven program just last year. Fun fact: NaNoWriMo has local roots, as it was created by Chris Baty, an author from Oakland.

Follow in the footsteps of local authors like Charles Joseph Albert and Viet Thanh Nguyen and write your magnus opus this month. 📖

Need some extra encouragement? The Center for Literary Arts will host a Writers Group on Fridays, the San José Public Library is hosting write-ins for all ages and has curated some great how-to books, and there’s plenty of other local writing events throughout this month. 📚
