A metamorphosis is about to take place...
In February, the city called on the public to help choose a name for a new West San Jose park being built in the Tropicana-Lanai neighborhood — and ‘Mariposa Park’ or Butterfly Park was adopted as the official name in the summer. 🦋
Now, you can join the city this Saturday, Oct. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m. to celebrate its groundbreaking as construction kicks off on the 0.15-acre neighborhood park — expected to be completed in spring 2023.
Hear from individuals and organizations instrumental in funding + planning for the park, and bask in the beauty of the park’s “El Sueño de la Mariposa” (or “The Butterfly’s Dream”) mural by Bay Area artist Morgan Bricca — which was an inspiration for the final name.

Editor’s pick: To kick off Scorpio season on the 22nd — which is my time to shine — I’m planning to visit the Winchester Mystery House with my partner + her mom, and later attend History Park’s Halloween Light Show. It’ll be a pretty spooky Saturday for me, will I see you at either?
