You’ve done your civic duty, San Jose + the votes are still pouring in... 🗳️
To recap: This year we cast votes to elect our new mayor, several city councilmembers + Santa Clara County sheriff — and make an amendment to our City Charter.
As of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, only ~49% of Santa Clara County’s ballots were counted, so most local races are still too close to call. However, we can share these early results:
- Governor Gavin Newsom is reelected
- US Senator Alex Padilla is reelected
- US House of Representatives members Ro Khanna, Zoe Lofgren + Jimmy Panetta are reelected
- Propositions 1, 28 + 31 have passed — which will enshrine reproductive health rights, fund music + art programs, and ban flavored tobacco products, respectively
