We know the question on your mind, fellow San Joseans — when’s it going to get consistently hot again? Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know what temperatures and precipitation trends to expect in our city for June, July, and August.

While exact weather conditions typically can’t be predicted more than a week in advance, here’s a seasonal outlook to help you prepare for what summer will bring.

🌡️ Temperature

Think hot. This summer, San Jose has a 33-40% chance of temperatures being higher than normal.

🌨️ Precipitation

Expect slight precipitation. While trends point to a typical amount rainfall for SJ, there’s a 60% likelihood that an El Niño will begin this month — bringing light rain and a bit of humidity to the Bay Area.

June

Usually in San Jose, June is the beginning of our region’s warm weather, as the average high of 70.5°F in May heats up to a toasty average high of 78.4°F and a low of 53.2°F this month.

Also, June is the month with the longest days — averaging approx. 14 hours and 41 min of daylight. Sounds perfect to fit in all the pool visits, Pride Month pop-ups, and hiking trips, huh?

July

In July, it heats up even more. As the warmest month, you can expect an average high of 82°F and a low of 55.2°F. Lucky for us, and maybe your hair, this month brings the least humidity. Stay cool.

August

The last month of summer will follow closely to July’s trends with an average high of 81.9°F and a low of 56.5°F. The maximum UV index averages at 6, so, don’t skip the sunscreen.
