Oh, sweet spring, is that you?
Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know what temperatures and precipitation trends to expect in San Jose this spring, from mid-March to mid-June.
While exact weather conditions typically can’t be predicted more than a week in advance, here’s a seasonal outlook to help you prepare for what spring will bring.
Reminder: The first day of spring is Thursday, March 20.
Our city is predicted to experience typical spring temps — we’re thinking keep a light jacket handy.
🌨️ Precipitation
We’ve had average rainfall in SJ this winter, and our city is expected to see ordinary rainfall amounts for spring, too.
☀️ Drought
According to the US Drought Monitor, drought conditions are being kept at bay in Santa Clara County, although some northeastern parts of our county are currently classified as abnormally dry.

March into this season
Typically in San Jose, March’s temperatures fluctuate between an average low of ~44° and high of ~62°. Our region experiences the most rainfall of the year during this month with an average of 9.8 days of rain. Daylight saving time has begun, so you’ll have nearly 12 hours of daylight in San Jose by mid-March.
April’s outlook
This month’s weather won’t deviate much from last month, with average low and high temps between 45° and 66°. There will likely be less rainfall and more sunshine with an average daily maximum UV index of 5 — so stay protected with sunscreen on your Alum Rock hikes.
It’s gonna be May
Temps continue to rise as our daily high temperature averages around 70.5° — which we think is perfect hiking weather. May marks the beginning of our opening-a-window-right-before-bed season (whenever it’s not too windy).

Start planning your attack (we mean, your approach) with these three tips to manage clutter:
If you’re looking to donate furniture
Bay Area Furniture Bank accepts furniture like tables, chairs, and dressers. Plus, Habitat for Humanity ReStore will take furniture, appliances, tools, lighting and other housing materials and offers donation pickups.
If your office or craft closet needs a clean
RAFT is always accepting new materials that can be used in classrooms — like pens, staplers, straws, scrap wood, and more.
If you simply need more space
Neighbor offers storage options listed by locals. Rent anything from an attic, a shed, a spare bedroom, and a garage to store your stuff. Bonus: You can also rent parking spots.
