🏒 San Jose Sharks (NHL) | Est. 1991
We’re not called Teal Town for nothing. The San Jose Sharks put the great 408 on the map as a hockey town, and they’re credited as the Bay Area’s first NHL franchise since the California Golden Seals relocated to Cleveland in 1976. The Sharks’ team name came from a “Name the New NHL Team” sweepstakes, and since then, fans from all over the world have come to see them play at the Tank.
Major accomplishments:
Starting with the 1997-1998 season, the team had five consecutive postseason appearances, and won SJ’s first division title in the 2001-2002 Western Conference semifinals.
In 2008-2009, the Sharks had the best record in the NHL and were the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
Past players including Brent Burns and Joe Thornton brought back trophies to the Tank.
📅 The Sharks have wrapped up their season, but the NHL typically releases its next regular season schedule in late June to early July.

⚽ San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) | Est. 1994
Established in 1994, the San Jose Earthquakes were among six other clubs that became the first teams in MLS. The team also has its Quakes Academy, which trains the next generation of soccer players to graduate to new clubs.
Two-time Supporters’ Shields winners in 2005 + 2012

Meet the AirFly wireless audio transmitter, AKA your ticket to watching — and actually enjoying — the in-flight movie entertainment on your next trip.
AirFly eliminates the need for wired headphones by plugging into a headphone jack then connecting via Bluetooth to your earbuds or wireless headphones. We repeat: You will never need wired headphones again if you have an AirFly.
Reviewers have mentioned the notable improvement in sound quality that the AirFly helps produce — not to mention, you won’t have to humble yourself before your travel companions and ask for a spare pair of wired headphones (or use the cheap ones the airline passes out).
Bonus: Upgrade to the AirFly Duo to share audio between two pairs of headphones, or get the AirFly Pro for all that plus even more battery life and audio options.

Translate this news with Babbel (currently offering 55% off lessons) in The Wrap at the bottom of our newsletter.*

We’re firm believers in spoiling the ones we love — especially our pets. That’s why we’re adding these two things to our shopping carts: this customizable velvet collar and this durable bed that features a removable slipcover. Don’t forget the treats. We love these soft chews for doggos and these freeze dried snacks for cats.

From the editor
I didn’t grow up in the South Bay, so my family was never really familiar with San Jose’s sports teams. But ever since I moved here, it’s been fun seeing such dedicated fans at these home games. I’m especially loving the Sharks + SJ Giants colorways... so you might be seeing me donning more team gear.
