San Jose Jazz’s 33rd Annual Summer Fest is back at Plaza de César Chavez this weekend, Friday, Aug. 11-Saturday, Aug. 13.

Get ready for more than 100 performances of jazz, R&B, Latin, soul, and so much more across eight stages in downtown San Jose — here’s our quick guide to the fest.

🎟️ Admission + getting there

Ticket prices vary depending on if you decide to attend all three days ($130-$680), or select days ($40-$180) — children ages 4 and under are free.

We all know downtown parking is tough, so we recommend carpooling, taking public transit, or heading to any of these five nearby garages.

Need a breakdown on DTSJ parking? Read our guide.

🎷 Headliners + highlights

San Jose Jazz has put together a fire lineup of musicians which include big name headliners like rapper + MC Big Daddy Kane, two-time Grammy Award-winner Gregory Porter, and pop + soul icon Anthony Hamilton.

Plus, this year is especially poppin’ as it will celebrate 50 years of hip-hop. On Friday, Aug. 11, get ready for:
  • Live graffiti painting with artists (and married couple) Gwen Mercado-Reyes + Joey Reyes
  • A hip-hop dance performance from popping crew Playboyz
  • A Q+A session with hip-hop podcast Dad Bod Rap Pos and MC Murs
And, we’re not quite finished. Throughout the weekend, check out these other fun fest events:
  • Latin Tropical Stage Pre-Party | Friday, Aug. 11 | 8 p.m.-2 a.m. | 386 Lounge | Tickets
  • Youth Jazz Jam | Saturday, Aug. 12 | 4-5 p.m. | SJMA Next Gen Stage | Free (with wristband)
  • Culture Night Market | Saturday, Aug. 12 | 3-11 p.m. | The Serpentine, Latin Tropical Stage | Free entry
Now go bust a move and we’ll see you there.

It’s simultaneously funny and sad how many of you are responding to SJtoday’s reel about the 101-880 Interchange. The last I heard, the city was looking at a price tag of near $1 billion to improve that interchange’s chaos... yikes. What do y’all think, should we look into this a bit more?
