• The VTA wants to buy a 17-story office tower on South Alamen Boulevard in downtown San Jose to serve as its new headquarters. If the deal works out, the transit agency would relocate in 2026. If negotiations fall through, the VTA has picked a backup site in north SJ. (SiliconValley.com)

• Sweet news: Brothers Mauricio and Luis Salazar recently opened Paleta Planeta at 150 E. Santa Clara St. in downtown SJ.
