Local foodies, this one’s for you. The Story Road Night Market’s 2024 finale weekend continues tonight, 4-10 p.m., outside of Grand Century Mall. The lively, all-ages market will feature 30+ vendors, food trucks, local performers, 40+ makers and artists, and community organizations. Admission is free.

Our region’s early October heat wave broke records — San Jose had its hottest seven-day streak ever recorded. SJSU professor Eugene Cordero said this increase in temps is what climate models have been predicting and called the pattern “a harbinger of things to come.” (KQED)
Development
The VTA wants to buy a 17-story office tower on South Alamen Boulevard in downtown San Jose to serve as its new headquarters. If the deal works out, the transit agency would relocate in 2026. If negotiations fall through, the VTA has picked a backup site in north SJ. (SiliconValley.com)

Sweet news: Brothers Mauricio and Luis Salazar recently opened Paleta Planeta at 150 E. Santa Clara St. in downtown SJ. History San Jose is offering free, walk-in tours today, 1 to 4 p.m., of the Gonzales/Peralta Adobe — the oldest home in California. The home was built in 1797 as part of El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe and features two rooms with period furnishings.

The Día San Jose Festival is coming to downtown’s César Chávez Plaza on Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The celebration will feature 100+ vendors, live music, lowrider altars, food, and 30+ Chicano artists. Tickets cost $5-10 at the door.
