News Notes

Civic

San Jose is starting to crack down on ~2,000 RVs that are parking overnight for days, weeks, or even months at 30 sites across the city. Officials are issuing notices letting owners know they have two weeks to move their RVs or risk being towed. (NBC Bay Area)

Development

Plans for a new ax-throwing venue in downtown SJ have been axed after the business couldn’t land financing. The business had been targeting a mixed-use site within Paseo on South First Street that is now being eyed by several restaurants hoping to hit the bullseye with the downtown crowd. (The Mercury News)

Traffic

San Jose is making adjustments to local streets to implement California’s new “daylighting” law, which requires cars to park at least 20 ft away from all crosswalks. Downtown parking meters within those crosswalk limits have been removed, curbs are being painted red, and some spaces are being eliminated in phases. (KTVU)

Mendocino Farms, the fast-casual chain known for its sandwiches + salads, debuted its latest San Jose location this week at Westgate Center. It’s the brand’s fourth location in our region — you can find the others in Campbell, Santa Clara, and on Olsen Drive.

San Jose will receive $12 million in federal funding for an infrastructure project that aims to install 237 EV charging ports across SJ and cities within the Silicon Valley Clean Energy service area. The plan includes installing 120 EV charging stations at 12 city-owned public libraries, community centers + parks.
