‘Tis the season for Christmas in the Park

San Jose’s annual holiday tradition is back again.

Christmas in the Park moved from City Hall to Plaza de Cesar Chavez in 1980, where it’s remained ever since.

Do you hear sleigh bells ringing? One of our oldest city traditions is gearing up for another celebration. 🔔

The opening ceremony for Christmas in the Park will take place on Fri., Nov. 25, but did you know this Downtown tradition has been around for over 40 years?

Willow Glen resident Don Lima built the city’s first-ever holiday display in the 1950s, which became so popular that he donated it to the City. Since then, the citywide event has moved to Plaza de Cesar Chavez + over 40 displays were added. 🎄

This year’s event has a few changes in store, as Aloha Roller Rink will replace the Kristi Yamaguchi Downtown Ice Rink, but the Holiday Drive-Through will light up Lake Cunningham for the third year in a row. 🌟
