Begone writer’s block... It’s finally November, which means it’s National Novel Writing Month. 🖊️
Since 1999, thousands of people worldwide have taken on the Internet-famous NaNoWriMo challenge to write a 50,000-word novel within 30 days. Over 427,000 writers participated in the community-driven program just last year. Fun fact: NaNoWriMo has local roots, as it was created by Chris Baty , an author from Oakland.
Follow in the footsteps of local authors like Charles Joseph Albert and Viet Thanh Nguyen and write your magnus opus this month. 📖
Need some extra encouragement? The Center for Literary Arts will host a Writers Group on Fridays, the San José Public Library is hosting write-ins for all ages and has curated some great how-to books , and there’s plenty of other local writing events throughout this month. 📚
