Get your feet wet with SJ Makers’ free business workshops — in partnership with Prosperity Lab — hosted every Monday at 6 p.m. Learn topics ranging from business planning and applying for grants, to tax obligations and permitting. RSVPs are not required, but encouraged.

Unsure where to start financially? Set up a client profile with the NorCal SBDC Finance Center and access free advising on working, expansion, and growth capital, real estate investments, startup financing, and more. You can also find other general startup services on its website.
Latino Business Foundation of Silicon Valley
This foundation’s Latino Business Council is aimed at helping small and micro business owners access legal advice, human resource compliance, workers’ rights training, and more. Navigate to its Small Business Resource Center, and find specific help for your current situation — whether it be for an open business, a temporarily closed business, or a business idea.

The Eastridge Little League has accepted an agreement with Santa Clara County to stop practices in the fields at Reid-Hillview Airport, in exchange for $225,000 to support the league’s hunt for a future playing field. This move comes after a year-long debate about the safety of the grounds due to lead emissions. (The Mercury News)

San Jose Walls announced that it will expand the Guadalupe River Art Walk next month, from Saturday, May 6, to Saturday, May 13. Funding from the Microsoft Datacenter Community Development team will assist the expansion, in part, and support SJ Walls’ upcoming 2023 Artist in Residence.

What’s an Editor’s Pick, you ask? Those are events that our team has personally curated for our audience. Aka: fun, noteworthy, or important going-ons in the community.
