You wake up, stomach rumbling, but your clock-in time is closing in. If only you could have all of your breakfast favorites in one wrap. Oh wait, you can.

Start your morning right with these four egg-celent breakfast burritos found in and around San Jose.

Cafe Rosalena, 1077 The Alameda
This spot has been serving its “world-famous breakfast burritos” since 1995. Enjoy different styles packed with meat, eggs, potatoes, and cheese, or several varieties of vegetarian + vegan burritos. Don’t forget Rosalena’s housemade orange, red, and green tomatillo salsas.

Greenlee’s Bakery, 1081 The Alameda
We can’t forget to mention this 100-year-old, family-owned staple. Well-known for its “famous breakfast burritos,” Greenlee’s specialties are stuffed with your choice of meat, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Plant-based diners can enjoy the no-meat, veggie, or vegan burritos.

Rose Cafe and Donuts, 994 Saratoga Ave.
The fan-favorite is the steak burrito stuffed with eggs, hash browns, cheese, and housemade salsa. For non-meat eaters, try the veggie burrito with bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, avocado + hash browns.

Kenny’s Cafe, 2315 De La Cruz Blvd.
This spot serves multiple types of burritos, including bacon and sausage, bacon, bulgogi steak, and bacon + steak. The homemade salsa puts a unique spin on the traditional, combining both Korean and Mexican flavors to create a sweet and spicy sauce.

San Jose hotel tower sale greenlit for SJSU student housing

Just a month after San Jose State University finalized its purchase of the Signia by Hilton hotel’s southern tower, the hotel is now up for sale.

The sale, headed by lodging unit CBRE Hotels, focuses on the hotel’s 541-room northern tower, renovated lobby, revamped pool + cabana areas, 55,000 sqft of meeting space, and four food and beverage outlets.

Previously the Fairmont San Jose, this iconic downtown hotel had turned into the Signia by Hilton in 2022, after the former fell into bankruptcy and was forced to close doors in 2021.

Though this impending sale may point to an unstable tourism + lodging industry in the South Bay, CBRE Hotels advertises the hotel’s success since 2019:
  • 10% increase in banquet + catering revenues
  • 31% increase in food and beverage profit margin
  • No change in revenue per available room from 2019 within the last six months
We’ll update this story as more information is announced.

What are your plans for the long holiday weekend? It snuck up on me so fast, I wasn’t able to make plans ahead of time. I’m thinking of this weekend as a delayed reset for the new year; cleaning out my closet, deep cleaning my room, and throwing out anything that won’t help me move towards a minimalist lifestyle.
