The festivities begin with a lowrider parade, 9 a.m.-11 a.m., cruising along King Road from Alum Rock Avenue to Story Road.
After the parade, enjoy the free, family-friendly Cinco de Mayo festival at Emma Prusch Farm Park, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring food vendors, artisan booths, and more lowriders. Organizers expect ~15,000 attendees.
The lineup of live entertainment includes artists like Alfonso Salazar, Analyn, and The Jams.

A new local farmers market has sprouted. The Downtown Farmers’ Market debuted yesterday at Hammer Theatre Plaza on Paseo de San Antonio. It’ll take place every Wednesday, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with a variety of local vendors. It replaces the former downtown farmers market that held its final season in 2022.

Jackie’s Place, SJ’s family-owned bakery, soul food, and BBQ restaurant, will open its second location this weekend at 321 S. First St. in the SoFa District. Join the grand opening block party on Sunday, April 27, 2-7 p.m., featuring a fish fry, live performances + giveaways.
Legacy
Groundbreaking San Jose developer and philanthropist Barry Swenson — the third generation leader of Swenson’s Builders — died on April 19.
