San Joseans, grab your blue + gold gear — football season is back. With the San Jose State Spartan’s first home game on Sunday, Sept. 3, it’s time to dive into all things game day.

The Spartans crushed several records last season — including going 6-0 at home for the first time since 1978. Despite falling to the USC Trojans in the 2023 season opener, hopes are high after an explosive 2022-2023 campaign.
The best way to watch from home:

🍻 Fox Tale pours one out for Anchor SF
San Jose brewery to release ale in solidarity with Anchor SF Union
This weekend, enjoy a beer knowing that you may help save a century-old brewery.
In early July, it came as a shock to the Bay Area when the Sapporo corporation announced that Anchor Brewing in SF would shut down operations after 127 years in business.
Though initially disappointed, Anchor workers became determined to purchase the company’s assets — with International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 6 + Project Equity — and keep the beloved brewery running.
Along with several other breweries, Fox Tale will release a “Solidarity Ale” this Labor Day weekend to support Anchor workers’ efforts to reclaim the institution.
Enjoy a 4.8% pre-prohibition style California ale made with malted barley and yellow corn from Admiral Maltings at Fox Tale’s 30 E. Santa Clara St. taproom. All proceeds will go towards the Anchor workers’ union.
As much as I’d love to stay in SJ for Lowrider Day, along with all the other fun events happening this weekend, I am heading to Pismo Beach for a short getaway. I know some of you were interested in SJtoday covering the town for another Hit the Road story, so I’ll gather all that I can for y’all.
