This Friday, Oct. 13 + Saturday, Oct. 14, San Jose’s top AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, will take on the Rockford Ice Hogs to kick off the 2023-2024 season — and it will be their first time starting the year at the Tech CU Arena.

Here are some need-to-knows before the puck drops.

The Barracuda enter play 4-4-1 all time in season openers and are scheduled to play 36 games at home.

Of course, no season is complete without some festive promotional nights:

  • Tigres Del Mar | Saturday, Oct. 28 | In celebration of Latinx + Hispanic heritage, the Barracuda will transform into Tigres Del Mar and give out special pins.
  • Pucks & Paws | Sunday, Nov. 12 | Claim a sporty pup calendar and logo water bowl.

Check out the full season schedule + snag tickets before they sell out.

🏒 Who to watch

The Barracuda are coming off a two-game sweep of the Bakersfield Condors to wrap up their preseason. Here are a few faces to keep an eye on in the regular season:

  • Shakir Mukhamadullin (Defense, No. 85) — Sharks’ Head Coach David Quinn sees him as a top defensive prospect for the Sharks.
  • Justin Bailey (Right Wing, No. 90) — This newcomer skated 58 games with the Bakersfield Condors, scoring second in team goals (19) and fifth in points (32).
  • Tristen Robins (Center/Right Wing, No. 52) — Known for his short-handed goals + quick maneuvers, Robins earned a spot on the Sharks at the end of last season.

📺 How to watch

All regular + (hopefully) postseason games will be available to stream through the Sharks+SAP Center App (audio-only), AHL TV, and SJBarracuda.com .

On nights where Sharks + Barracuda games don’t overlap, you can also catch the action on the Sharks Audio Network .
